Dr. Natalia Kanem, UNFPA Executive Director
In a career spanning over three decades, Dr. Natalia Kanem has dedicated her life to improving the health and lives of women and children by championing their rights and choices. She leverages her combined expertise in science, public health and philanthropy to advance the reproductive health and rights of women and girls, and to uphold the human dignity of all.
As United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency, Dr. Kanem oversees its lifesaving policy, development and humanitarian work in over 120 countries, with the aim of assuring that ‘every pregnancy is intended, every childbirth is safe and every young person’s potential is fulfilled.’

Charlotte Owens, MD, FACOG, is the Head of Medical Affairs & Outcomes Research at Organon, a global healthcare company, where she oversees global medical strategy and support for marketed and pipeline products.
With prior leadership roles at Takeda, AbbVie, Kimberly Clark, and Johnson & Johnson, Dr. Owens brings over a decade of pharmaceutical experience, two decades as a practicing, board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, and a global lens to sustainably improving health equity and delivering patient care. An Adjunct Assistant Professor at Morehouse School of Medicine since 2014, she earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed her residency at Henry Ford Health System.

The Institute for Family Health (IFH) stands as a beacon of comprehensive healthcare in Jordan, providing vital care to Jordanians and refugees. Operating through 26 branches, including locations in Syrian refugee camps, IFH offers primary healthcare services encompassing family medicine, child health, sexual and reproductive health, and clinical management of rape.
Esraa Shakboua, a Senior GBV Specialist with a 14-year track record of championing gender equality and combating gender-based violence, will proudly accept the Implementing Partner Award on behalf of IFH.
Global Humanitarian Honoree
Ambereen Sleemi, MD, MPH
Dr. Ambereen Sleemi is a USA for UNFPA Leadership Council Member and a female pelvic medicine reconstructive surgeon (Urogynecologist) and trained obstetric fistula surgeon. She is the Executive Director and Surgical Director of International Medical Response, a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals that supplement, support and enhance healthcare systems in communities across the world that have been incapacitated by natural disasters, extreme poverty, and/or regional conflict.
Ambereen and International Medical Response have partnered with UNFPA country offices in Liberia, Malawi, Haiti, South Sudan and soon in Gambia. Through this partnership UNFPA provides patient transportation and surgical supplies to International Medical Responses surgical teams, equipping them to deliver life changing obstetric fistula repair surgeries to women in the surrounding communities.

Mijori is a singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur hailing from New York who uses her artistry to empower and inspire others to share their voices and stand in their truth.
Mijori consistently collaborates with like-minded creatives around the country and performs in various prestigious spaces such as Sofar Sounds, The United Nations, Stonewall Inn, and many more, as well as a proud member and leader of Writing Sessions of America (WSA.). Mijori is also being a member of Create2030, an artist-led network of international, diverse and professional artists and storytellers committed to using their voices, platforms and talents in support of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs.), you can learn more about their work at create2030.org.

We recommend guests wear business and/or cocktail attire.
We kindly request all guests confirmed to attend to please plan to arrive by 5:45 pm to allow sufficient time to pass through the security and check-in process.
All guests are required to enter the UN Headquarters at the “Visitors’ Entrance” located on 1st Avenue between 45th and 46th Streets (via the security tents). Volunteers will be positioned on the steps in front of the Visitor’s Entrance, holding a “USA for UNFPA” sign, to distribute special event day passes to each guest. Additional volunteers will be positioned throughout the building to guide all guests to the Delegates Dining Room located on the fourth floor.
We require full names of each event attendee in advance for U.N. security procedures by 5:00 pm on Friday, November 10, 2023. Tickets and event passes are non-transferable after the deadline date.
