From California to Ukraine: Empowering Women and Girls

Girls’ Power Association (GPA) of Santa Monica College has partnered with USA for UNFPA to deliver lifesaving sexual and reproductive care to women and girls in Ukraine.

GPA is a club that pursues women’s freedom, fairness, and rights and works to eliminate discrimination and sexual harassment in school and society. With USA for UNFPA, GPA is raising funds to distribute dignity kits. When asked about their motivation for supporting Ukrainian women and girls’ reproductive health, they said, “We hope women can be more valued!”

The dignity kits will provide women and girls in Ukraine with the personal hygiene supplies they need to stay healthy and manage their periods. The kits contain menstrual pads, bath soap, multiple pairs of underwear, detergent powder, sanitary napkins, a flashlight, toothpaste, a toothbrush, and a comb, all housed inside a backpack or easy-to-carry bucket. Each kit is about $15 and GPA hopes to reach 100 women and girls with this care.

Thank you, Girls’ Power Association, for your partnership! Join GPA in empowering women and girls in Ukraine.

*Funds will go toward UNFPA activities in Ukraine, including dignity kits.
